We offer multiple options for creating CodeSignal interview sessions. If you are using an ATS, you can create an interview directly in your ATS without switching between platforms. This article will cover creating interview links via:
Option 1: Use the CodeSignal Chrome Extension
Regardless of which ATS (Applicant Tracking System) you may use, you can create CodeSignal interview sessions quickly from your Google Chrome browser.
Step 1. Add the CodeSignal Chrome Extension to your Chrome Browser.
Step 2. Log in to your company's CodeSignal account.
Step 3. Once logged into CodeSignal, you can click the CodeSignal Chrome Extension icon from any webpage.
Step 4. Click CREATE INTERVIEW LINK.
Step 5. Fill out any relevant fields:
- Candidate's name
- Labels
- Team ownership
- Interview template. You can also choose to lock the template at this stage, which means that an interviewer cannot change the template associated with this interview session.
- Session expiration
Then, click CREATE.
Step 6. Copy the newly created link to your clipboard and share it with your interviewer(s) and candidate!
Your previously created interview links can be referenced any time you click on the Chrome extension.
Option 2: Create the interview session from the CodeSignal Interview page
Step 1. Go to the Interview tab and click the + Create button.
Step 2. In the Create an Interview pop-up, you have the option to add the following:
- Candidate name
- Session Expiration: You can configure the Interview duration in hours or days.
From here, you have a few options:
- Click Go to interview to open the session and complete setup or start the interview right away.
- Click Create to generate an interview URL that can be shared with an interviewee during scheduling.
- Click Advanced interview options to configure additional interview settings.
Step 3. [Optional] Click Advanced interview options to explore additional settings.
Under the default Interview info section, you can configure the following optional fields:
- Interview template: Select an interview template that contains pre-defined interview questions. You can also choose to lock the template using the toggle below, which means that an interviewer cannot change the template associated with this interview session.
- Team ownership: Assign this interview to be visible to a specific team at your organization.
- Interviewer: Assign a specific interviewer to conduct the interview
- Labels: Select a label which can be used to filter interview sessions from the main interview dashboard.
Step 4. [Optional] Configure Fraud prevention settings.
Under the Fraud prevention section, you can enable:
- IP Monitoring to track an interviewee’s location by their IP address.
- Disable description copy to prevent interviewees from copying any part of the question description during the session.
-
A pledge to close all tabs and apps aside from the interview session.
- Enable sub-pledges that specify whether another tab can be kept open for syntax reference, whether a single monitor is required, and whether one must use only the CodeSignal IDE during the session.
Alternatively, you can select Enable Proctoring which will override the pledge. Note: Customers on our Build or Grow plan do not have access to proctoring for live interviews.
With proctoring enabled, our system will:
-
Prompt the interviewee to share their video and audio during the session.
- Specify whether their face must be visible and well-lit throughout the session [Recommended].
- Specify whether headphones or sunglasses are permitted (we recommend checking this box to restrict these behaviors).
- Prompt the interviewee to share their screen during the session.
- Prompt the interviewee to verify their identity by providing an identification card.
Step 5. [Optional] Configure Acknowledgements. These various acknowledgements will help ensure the integrity of the interview session.
Click Create under Custom Acknowledgements to add any additional acknowledgements you’d like.
Step 6. Once all of your desired settings are configured for the interview session, click either GO TO INTERVIEW on the left to enter the interview session or click CREATE if you do not need to access the interview immediately.
Step 7. Click Copy to copy the interview URL to your clipboard and share it with both the interviewee and the interviewer. Both parties will use the same link to access the interview session.
Editing Interview Sessions
Adding the candidate's name will help you easily find them on the interview dashboard. If you did not do this in Step 2, can add this information later from your interview dashboard by clicking the Edit icon next to the candidate.
Accessing an Interview Session
If you need to reference the link at a later time, you may easily do so by finding the candidate on your Interview dashboard. Click on the link icon to copy the interview URL to your clipboard.
Option 3: Create the interview session directly in Greenhouse (if applicable)
If you are using Greenhouse as your company's ATS, you have the ability to create interview sessions directly in Greenhouse. Doing so will save you time since you can operate solely in Greenhouse vs. switching back and forth between CodeSignal and Greenhouse.
We have an entire article dedicated to creating interview sessions in Greenhouse. You can view the Greenhouse steps here.
Option 4: Create the interview session directly in Lever (if applicable)
If you are using Lever as your company's ATS, you have the ability to create interview links directly within Lever. Doing so will prevent extra steps and allow you to operate directly within Lever to create interview sessions.
As with Greenhouse, we have an entire article dedicated to creating interview sessions in Lever directly. Please view the Lever steps here.
We want to save you time while also providing options when it comes to creating interview sessions. Let us know if you work with an ATS not mentioned above!
