Benefits of the whiteboard question type
The whiteboard question type can be used to drive consistency during live interview sessions on CodeSignal, as well as to save interviewers time by creating pre-filled whiteboard exercises to be used across multiple interviews. Whiteboard questions can be used back-to-back with coding questions during a live interview to ensure that you assess all desired skills across your candidates.
Creating a Whiteboard Question
To create a whiteboard question, log into your company's CodeSignal account and follow the steps below.
- Visit the Question Library and click + Create Question.
2. Select the Whiteboard question type.
3. Enter a title, description, any requirements, and Labels as needed. Create content to pre-fill your whiteboard question. Click Save.
Using a Whiteboard Question
During an interview session, you can use the whiteboard in two ways:
A. You can launch our Quickstart whiteboard as a scratchpad for use during your warm-up questions or during coding questions. Note: If you re-launch the global whiteboard later in the interview, you will see the whiteboard in a blank state. Previous notes will not be saved.
B. You can launch a whiteboard question that contains your pre-filled content. When using a whiteboard question, your candidate can manipulate the pre-filled content or add additional content. After your candidate has finished the whiteboard question, click Submit to save the final state solution. Next, you can launch another question type or another whiteboard question.
Note: You cannot launch the global whiteboard during a whiteboard question.
Review your candidate’s solution
Once the interview session is finished, you can review your candidate’s solutions for each question in your interview including your whiteboard question(s).
In the whiteboard column, click the arrow icon in order to view your candidate’s solution in-app or in a separate browser tab.
Note: recorded replays of your candidate’s whiteboard solution are not currently available.
