A Certified Evaluation is an assessment that is backed by one of CodeSignal’s Skills Evaluation Frameworks. Certified Evaluations eliminate the work of manually building questions while mitigating question leak concerns, and reducing bias in the hiring process. A Skills Evaluation Framework is role-relevant assessment content that is written by subject matter experts, validated by IO Psychologists, and maintained by CodeSignal. Our Skills Evaluation Frameworks are available for a variety of technical roles. Certified Evaluations offer a consistent assessment process, but allow for customizable messaging options and tools for teams targeting multiple groups of test-takers. Creating one takes just a few clicks.
Selecting a Skills Evaluation Framework
To start creating a Verified Evaluation, navigate to the ASSESSMENTS tab.
Click the blue CREATE button in the top right.
From here, you'll choose the individual Skills Evaluation Framework you'd like to use for this Certified Evaluation. The selection screen shows all of the available Skills Evaluation Frameworks, along with some background context on what skills and roles they target, to help you decide which Skills Evaluation Framework is right for you. Some Skills Evaluations Frameworks are built with a specific role in mind, while others measure more general skills applicable to a range of positions.
Note that once you create an assessment that uses a Skills Evaluation Framework, you cannot change which Skills Evaluation Framework that Assessments is using. If you decide to opt for a different Skills Evaluation Framework later on, you'll have to create a new assessment.
Choose a Skills Evaluation Framework by clicking on its tile. Then, click SELECT.
Customizing messaging
Use the Design, Settings, and Email tabs to customize your assessment. Some fields, such as Duration, are automatically filled in based on the chosen Skills Evaluation Framework.
In the DESIGN tab, you can change the messaging that test-takers see when they interact with the assessment.
The SETTINGS tab shows internal tracking options. In this screen, you can specify ownership and set administrative parameters like time zone and invitation expiration.
Cooldown is set by the Skills Evaluation Framework. This is the amount of time a test-taker would need to wait before taking an assessment backed by the same Skills Evaluation Framework again.
The Email tab allows you to set a schedule for email reminders (orange box) or edit the email templates themselves (green box).
Customizing settings for various teams & segments
Many CodeSignal customers leverage the same Skills Evaluation Frameworks to consistently evaluate skills across a variety of segments in their engineering organization. However, various regions, teams, and other segments may need to customize components of the experience to align with their processes and requirements. For example, some segments may want to leverage different scoring thresholds, expiration timelines, email messaging, and more.
To meet the needs of your various teams, you can create multiple assessments, all using the same Skills Evaluation Framework, and customize the settings to match the experience the team is looking to drive. Scores will be kept separate, grouped by the separate assessments.
Simply follow the process outlined above to create as many assessments as you need.
