A Certified Assessment is an assessment that is backed by one of CodeSignal’s certified assessments. Certified Evaluations eliminate the work of manually building questions while mitigating question leak concerns, and reducing bias in the hiring process. A certified assessment is role-relevant assessment content that is written by subject matter experts, validated by IO Psychologists, and maintained by CodeSignal.
Our certified assessments are available for a variety of technical roles. Certified Evaluations offer a consistent assessment process, but allow for customizable messaging options and tools for teams targeting multiple groups of test-takers.
In this article, we'll cover:
- Selecting a certified assessment
- Customizing messaging
- Customizing settings for various teams & segments
- Proctoring
- Identifying Assessments backed by a certified assessment
Selecting a certified assessment
To start creating a Verified Evaluation, navigate to the ASSESSMENTS tab.
Click the blue CREATE button in the top right.
This is where you’ll be able to locate the certified assessment you need. You can also use the filters on the left to make your search easier.
The selection screen shows all of the available certified assessments, along with some background context on what skills and roles they target, to help you decide which certified assessment is right for you. Some certified assessments are built with a specific role in mind, while others measure more general skills applicable to a range of positions.
Choose a certified assessment by clicking on its tile. Then, click USE.
If you want to create your own assessment, please click SKIP from the bottom.
Customizing messaging
Use the Design, Settings, Email, Fraud Prevention, Acknowledgement and cheating detection tabs to customize your assessment. Some fields, such as Duration, are automatically filled in based on the chosen certified assessment.
The SETTINGS tab shows internal tracking options. In this screen, you can specify ownership and set administrative parameters like time zone and invitation expiration.
Cooldown is set by the certified assessment. This is the amount of time a test-taker would need to wait before taking an assessment backed by the same certified assessment again.
The EMAIL tab allows you to set a schedule for email reminders or edit the email templates themselves
In the Fraud Prevention tab you can toggle on:
-
IP Monitoring: to tracks user's location based on their IP address.
-
Disable description copy: Assessment takers won't be able to copy description or its part from the UI.
- Enable Proctoring: Detect fraudulent and fake sessions.
The next tab is Acknowledgements. Here, you can select the acknowledgements that test-takers must agree to before beginning the assessment.
In the CHEATING DETECTION tab you can use default cheating detection config or customize the settings as needed.
Customizing settings for various teams & segments
Many CodeSignal customers leverage the same certified assessments to consistently evaluate skills across a variety of segments in their engineering organization. However, various regions, teams, and other segments may need to customize components of the experience to align with their processes and requirements. For example, some segments may want to leverage different scoring thresholds, expiration timelines, email messaging, and more.
To meet the needs of your various teams, you can create multiple assessments, all using the same certified assessment, and customize the settings to match the experience the team is looking to drive. Scores will be kept separate, grouped by the separate assessments.
Simply follow the process outlined above to create as many assessments as you need.
Proctoring
Your organization-level proctoring settings will dictate whether the assessments backed by a certified assessment will be proctored.
Proctoring helps ensure that a candidate's result is reflective of their true skills. CodeSignal's Assessment proctors provide verification of a test-taker's identity and verify the results of the evaluation. For more insight into our proctoring process, check out this article that takes a deeper dive!
We recommend all organizations choose to enable proctoring. Organizations with proctoring enabled can request to disable proctoring for specific assessments backed by a certified assessment, but the opposite is not true. Therefore, enabling proctoring at the organizational level provides the most flexibility.
