CodeSignal Learn lessons and practices can be accessed directly from your course in Canvas. When you open a CodeSignal learning activity, the interactive lesson appears within Canvas so you can learn and practice without needing to find the activities separately in CodeSignal.
This guide explains how to navigate CodeSignal lessons in Canvas and use Cosmo. It covers:
Understanding the CodeSignal learning experience
When you open a CodeSignal lesson or practice from Canvas, the learning experience includes two main areas: Cosmo Chat and the activity area.
Cosmo Chat
Cosmo is CodeSignal's AI-powered learning assistant. It's there to help you understand the material and build the skills you're practicing. You can use Cosmo throughout a lesson or practice to ask questions about what you're learning, get additional explanations, and work through concepts when you're stuck.
Activity area
The main activity area is where you'll work through the lessons and/or activities that make up your course.
Depending on the activity, you may be asked to:
- Read instructional content
- Watch a video
- Complete interactive exercises
- Practice applying the concepts you've learned
Follow the prompts in this area to work through each part of the activity.
Opening and viewing a lesson or practice
Click on the Courses tan and select your desired course. Within the Modules tab, select the CodeSignal lesson or practice you want to complete. The CodeSignal learning experience will open within Canvas.
Watching a video lesson
When a lesson includes a video, select the View Video icon to watch it. After watching the video, return to the lesson and continue through the remaining activities.
Opening CodeSignal in a new window or fullscreen
If you'd like more room to work, you can expand the CodeSignal experience instead of completing the lesson or practice within the standard Canvas page.
Click the fullscreen option when you'd like more space for the activity and Cosmo Chat. Opening the activity this way does not create a separate activity or restart your work. You're still working in the same CodeSignal learning experience.
Can I leave a lesson or practice and come back later?
Yes. Your CodeSignal learning progress is saved as you work, so you don't need to complete an entire course in one sitting.
How do I know when I've completed a lesson or practice?
Click “Done” when you have completed a lesson, and click “Submit” when you have completed a practice.
Each time you complete a lesson or practice, this will be reflected within Canvas right away.
